El feedback, permite vernos a nosotros mismos tal como nos ven los demás.
Es una forma de comunicación a través de la cual una persona da o recibe informaciones sobre su persona.
Es una forma efectiva de apoyar y estimular modos de comportamientos positivos, o corregir comportamientos que no favorecen el crecimiento personal, aclara las relaciones interpersonales y ayuda a comprender mejor al otro.
En nuestra interacción con las personas comunicamos información de todo tipo incluyendo aquella de las que no estamos conscientes, pero que son captadas por las otras personas. Reflejamos nuestra forma de hablar, la manera de ser, el estilo al relacionarnos con los demás, etcétera.
A través del feedback las personas tienen la oportunidad de obtener esa información, sin embargo para que el feedback sea efectivo, se requiere de algunas condiciones o reglas importantes, y son las siguientes:
Útil: Debe ir dirigido a un comportamiento susceptible de ser modificado, la persona debe reconocer cuál es el comportamiento a corregir, un ejemplo: “Eres un despistado”, es un feedback inútil que no beneficia la comunicación, no deja una referencia para ver con claridad el comportamiento inadecuado, en cambio, si decimos: Tienes la costumbre de desviar tú atención cuando converso contigo, miras a otro lado, cambias de tema cuando espero de ti una respuesta y esto me resulta desagradable. El mensaje de esta manera permite recibir información concreta que puede ser examinada por la persona.
Descriptivo: Es decir, sin valoraciones o reprobaciones de ningún tipo. El tono de censura crea una reacción defensiva.
Concreto: Debe ser específico, en vez de general, ya que el contenido del mensaje sería difuso, o abstracto.
Oportuno: Saber cuándo ofrecerlo, es decir, buscar el mejor momento para darlo, saber si se da en grupo o en privado. Suele ser más efectivo si se da inmediatamente después de haber ocurrido el hecho o la conducta. Sin embargo, si la persona no está en condiciones emotivas para entablar una conversación serena, centrada, es preferible, esperar calmarse para que el feedback resulte beneficioso.
Solicitado: ¿Cuántas veces hemos pedido un feedback? Es mucho más útil y efectivo pedirlo.
Objetivo: Debe ser claro y directo, sin evasivas, ni rodeos
Comprobado: Tanto emisor como receptor pueden confirmar con el grupo la observación transmitida, esto garantiza una buena comunicación.
Las reglas para el feedback están dirigidas tanto a quien lo aplica como al que lo recibe, y es más completo si las personas expresan sus sentimientos y son congruentes, por lo que también es importante que hagan contacto visual, y haya correspondencia entre el contenido verbal, expresión facial, corporal, tono de voz, es importante que la persona que recibe el feedback, escuche sin argumentar, ni defenderse, también puede comprobar el feedback con otras personas para saber si han observado el mismo comportamiento. De esta manera se logra una comunicación abierta, franca, sincera.
